Waist Circumference

Waist circumference evaluates a patient's abdominal fat before and during weight loss treatment. A high waist circumference is associated with an increased risk for type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and CVD in patients with a BMI between 25 and 35 kg/m2.

High-risk waist circumference is defined as follows:

  • Men >40" (>102 cm)
  • Women >35" (>88 cm)
